Neighborhood Road Updates and Improvements

Published: May 31, 2017

A homeowner attended the neighborhood meeting at the school last week and am providing you with the information as it was presented to us on the slides.

MAYHILL

    - This project is going to be bid on May 11, 2017
    - Construction should begin in July 2017 and take 2-1/2 years to complete
    - The scope of the project is to construct 4 lanes (ultimate 6 lanes) from US 380 to tie into the existing 4 lanes just north of Edwards Lane
    - This new roadway will be a concrete roadway with curb and wide median that will accommodate the future two lanes

EDWARDS RD

    - Construction should begin in June 2017 and be completed in September 2017
    - This roadway will be widened to 25' to Swisher Road. This will be constructed by the developer.
    - The roadway will be closed during construction. Waiting to construct until June so the closure for construction does not occur while school is in session.
(editor's note: Please be aware that school starts August 16 so with the timeline they have provided, there may be some detouring that you need to be mindful of for a little while)

POCKRUS PAGE RD

    - The majority of Pockrus Page has already been constructed.
    - There is a section from Post Oak to Swisher that is not at full width and there are currently no plans to widen it at this time.
    - The City is looking into adding sidewalks to the north side of the roadway this fall.
(editor's note: I confirmed with the traffic engineer that this extension will start from where the sidewalk currently ends - Water Lily - to the entrance of the school. If and when they complete this extension, they will adjust the crosswalk and school zone accordingly)

POST OAK

    - The roadway section from Post Oak/Lakeview Blvd to Pockrus Page was constructed with 2 lanes of the ultimate [plan of building] 6 lanes
    - The ultimate section will be 6 lanes from I-35E to US 380
    - The next section to be constructed will be from Pockrus Page to Edwards. Will initially be constructed similar to the section to the south as 2 lanes or the ultimate 6
    - The City currently has the ROW for this section, with the exception of one parcel. There are currently no designated funds to build this section, Bond Election 2020
(editor's note: Basically, they plan to extend Post Oak from the interstate up to 380, but the nearest funding period will not be until the bond election in 2020 and, even then, it's not guaranteed that it'll be chosen as a project to be included in that bond election)

POST OAK DRIVE BRIDGE

    - The additional lanes on the Post Oak bridge are scheduled to open this summer
    - The completed bridge will have two lanes in each direction and two dedicated turn lanes in each direction
